About Us: What to Expect

Visiting and Attending Beth Immanuel

Your first visit to a congregation like Beth Immanuel can be a little disconcerting. Hebrew liturgy, ancient rituals, prayer shawls and strange lingo combine to create some culture shock. Don't let that deter you. All disciples of Jesus are welcome at Beth Immanuel, and we do want to fellowship with you.

We have two service on Saturday mornings. Our traditional service with Hebrew/English liturgy and reading from the Torah scroll begins Saturday at 10:00 AM. For those looking for a more conventional experience, our contemporary service with worship music and a sermon begins Saturday at 11:30 AM. You are welcome to attend either or both.

Plan on staying as our guests for the meal after service.

Suggested Dress:

Beth Immanuel does have a suggested dress standard. We ask that men and women wear gender appropriate attire. Throughout history, Sabbath keepers have always endeavored to dress their best in honor of God's holy day. In addition, we place a high priority on modest dress. Shorts are discouraged. Dresses and skirts should be long enough to cover the knees when seated. Shirts should have sleeves and cover mid-sections. Necklines should not be low-cut. Everything private should be covered.

What not to bring:

Please leave electronic devices such as cell phones, pagers, computers and games home. If you must have a cell phone with you, please silence the ringer.
