After the resurrection of the dead comes the final judgment. According to Hebrews 6, the eternal judgment is one of the elementary principles of the Messiah, yet it is poorly understood among believers today. This teaching provides a quick synopsis of the subject.

The Final Judgment is a re-recording of a talk originally delivered on Shabbat Shoftim, Elul 4, 5773 corresponding to August 10 in the year of our Master 2013. This is the 26th installment in our studies in the book of Hebrews and the final installment in our special study of elementary teachings of the Messiah in Hebrews 6.

Yeshua said that Miryam chose the good portion and it would not be taken away from her. What is the "good portion" that Miryam chose? In this teaching from Parashat Ekev, the Mitzvah of saying the grace after meals opens a discussion about the story of Miryam and Marta in Luke 10 and the importance of speaking words of Torah and the words of the Master at the Sabbath table. An important reminder about the distractions of materialsim.

Yeshua answered and said to her, "Marta, Marta, you are worried and alarmed about many things. Nothing is necessary except one thing, and Miryam has chosen the good portion that will not be taken from her." (Lukas 10:42-43, DHE)

This teaching was originally presented to the community of Beth Immanuel on Shabbat Ekev, August 8, 2015 / Av 23, 5775.

In the first chapter of the book of Revelation, the risen Yeshua appears and declares that he holds in his hand "the keys to death and Hades." What are these keys and from where did he acquire them? What do they unlock?

This teaching, presented on Erev Rosh HaShanah 5776, discusses the resurrection of the dead in relationship to the shofar of Rosh Hashanah.

Rabbi Yochanah said: The Holy One blessed be He has retained three keys in his own hands and not entrusted them into the hand of any messenger: the Key of Rain, the Key of the Womb, and the Key of the Resurrection of the Dead.” (b.Taanit 2a–b)

I have three questions about Leviticus 26:42:

  1. Why are the names of the forefathers presented in reverse order in Leviticus 26:42?
  2. Why is Jacob's name spelled with an vav?
  3. And why does it say HaShem will remember his covenant with Abraham and Jacob, but regarding Isaac, the Hebrew does not use the word  "remember."

This teaching demonstrates how the land of Israel is an important part of the final redemption and the coming of the kingdom. The blessings in Bechukotai are prophetic descriptions of the land of Israel in the Messianic Era.

Psalm 110 is the most frequently quoted text in the New Testament. Why? And what did Yeshua mean when he quoted it to challenge the concept of a Davidic Messiah?

David himself, in the Holy Spirit, declared, 'The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand, until I put your enemies under your feet.' David himself calls him Lord. So how is he his son? (Mar 12:36-37)

Listen to a study of Hebrews 4:14-5:6 which unwraps Psalm 110 and introduces the priesthood of Messiah. The Messiah Psalm offers discussion about the Messianic interpretation of Psalm 110 as it appears in the teaching of Yeshua (Mark 12) and the Epistle of Hebrews.

The kingdom of heaven prior to the final redemption can be likened to a partisan movement, such as Robin Hood and his men or the European freedom fighters that fought in Nazi occupied territory. The Partisans is a teaching on Hebrews 2 in light of Psalm 8 and the parable of the ten minas in Luke 19 concerning all things in subjection to the Son and the revelation of the kingdom.

We have this common goal, this common purpose. We have received the dispatch. The king is on the throne, and he is on the way here. If we will be loyal to him now, we are part of his kingdom. But he has not yet arrived. There is another king on the throne, who holds the power of death, and we are the resistance movement, loyal to the incoming king because we know that, even though this enemy and pretender, this contender for the throne still holds power, his rule is over, he has lost his authority, and his time is quickly coming to an end.

Has God rejected his people? Did Israel stumble and fall? Romans 10-11 offers us a crash course on Paul's theology regarding the election of Israel, the Messianic Jewish remnant, the inclusion of the Gentiles, and the final redemption. This Bible study fills in the missing pieces in Paul's arguments to make sense out of these difficult passages:

How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, "Your God reigns." (Isaiah 52:7)

What's the difference between the resurrection and going to heaven?

According to Hebrews 6:1-2, the resurrection of the dead is one of the six basic doctrines of Messianic faith. In this teaching, D. Thomas Lancaster takes a look at the apostolic hope in the resurrection, distinguishing between the resurrection of the righteous and the general resurrection. This is teaching number 25 in the Hebrews series and number 10 in special series on the elementary teachings of the Messiah.

What does it mean that “the one who has loved another has fulfilled the Torah” (Romans 13:8). What commandments are incumbent upon a Gentile disciple? If the Gentile disciples are not “under the Torah,” then to what are they obligated? Paul addresses this question in Romans 13 and lays out some overarching principles and specific examples. This audio file, recorded in January of 2013, has poor quality audio but great content.
