doxologies | Beth Immanuel Messianic Synagogue

More about doxologies

Clement dispatched three elders, a beit din from the community in Rome, to serve his epistle to the assembly of disciples in Corinth. Turns out we have met one of them before in Paul's epistles to Corinth. With a few closing remarks, a blessing, and two more doxologies, we conclude the epistle of 1 Clement and discuss its reception among the churches in the second and third centuries. Download the PDF below for the original handout.

Clement makes an appeal to nature and the natural order of creation to argue for the resurrection of the dead and the order of authoirty in the assembly of Messiah. Listen in on this class on 1 Clement 20-27.

If Gentile believers receive the a share in the kingdom and the world to come and also enjoy the blessings promised to Abraham, what advantage does a Jewish believer have? What's the point of being a Jew at all? Does the inclusion of the Gentiles negate Jewish identity and priority? These are the questions that the Apostle Paul takes up in the much-misunderstood and often-misinterpreted ninth chapter of the book of Romans.

The seventh trumpet blows, signaling the big event when the day of wrath collides with the rage of nations. The temple on earth opens and the ark of the covenant is revealed. The kingdom of this world becomes the kingdom of Hashem and his Messiah. In this study of Revelation 11:14-19, the seventh trumpet blast initiates a process whereby the kingdom will be established.

And it came to pass, when the ark set forward, that Moses said, Rise up, LORD, and let thine enemies be scattered; and let them that hate thee flee before thee. (Numbers 10:35)
