More about synagogue services

Are you ready to hear the Messiah read the Torah? This Sukkot is the festival after the seventh year during which we are to hear the king read the Torah. The mitzvah of Hakhel (Deuteronomy 31:10-13) says that during the festival of Sukkot, at the end of a Shemitah year, everyone is supposed to assemble in Jerusalem to hear the Torah read aloud to the whole assembly by the king of Israel.

Why bother attending synagogue services? Take a look at the spiritual transactions taking place at Beth Immanuel. This discussion about the efficacy of prayer and attendance at a Messianic Jewish synagogue includes a discourse on the rock in the wilderness, the clouds of glory, and the manna as they relate to Miriam, Aaron, and Moses respectively and how these elements foreshadow the Messiah.

Locust plague, pestilence and disease, a river of blood, earthquakes and storms -- the ten plauges on Egypt? No. It's the headlines from the news. This teaching for Parashat Vayikra looks at the current signs of the times and the "Birth Pangs of Messiah" and tries to place it all in context.

Where are we going with this? What's the end goal? And why is Beth Immanuel so Jewish?

On the occasion of the fifteenth anniversary of the community, Pastor Lancaster tells the story of our transition from Beth Immanuel Sabbath Fellowship to the Beth Immanuel Messianic Synagogue. Listen along to part one of a four part series titled "Its Too Jewish," and learn about the vision and direction of our community in beautiful, historic, Hudson, Wisconsin.

Put on your headphones, close your eyes, and enter the world of a traditional Messianic Synagogue.

Our main services are on Shabbat. In honor of Shabbat being a day when we abstain from creating, we do not record our Shabbat services. We also keep the Sabbath pure, simple, and grand with a completely acapella service--no musical instruments.

Where did the first Christians go to church? Our third teaching on the book of Hebrews takes a look at the Jewish believers and their relationship to the Temple and Levitical worship system in the first century and looks for the possible occasion that inspired the writing of the epistle. Learn about the sacred place of assembly where the Jerusalem community of disciples used to gather daily for prayer.

And they were all together in Solomon's Portico. (Act 5:12)

Who wrote the Epistle to the Hebrews and who were those Hebrews to whom the epistle was sent? Why did the early church nearly exclude Hebrews from the canon. This teaching provides a quick introduction to the book of Hebrews addressing the questions of what, who, to whom, when, where, and why. We look for clues in introduction and subscription of the epistle and we speculate about the possible authorship of the epistle, the intended audience, the occasion that might have inspired its the composition, and the overall genre of the piece.
