Come Home to Hudson

Beth Immanuel’s Come Home to Hudson campaign is ongoing, and we have begun to see the first home-comers responding and relocating to beautiful, scenic, historic Hudson, WI. Welcome to the recent arrivals.

Promise of What is to Come

Among the recent wave of homecomers to Hudson, Beth Immanuel welcomes Toby Janicki and his family to the community. The Janicki family relocated in May and are purchasing a home in the area in order to participate in the Beth Immanuel community. Toby is a teacher with First Fruits of Zion. Check out his great Messianic teachings in the online TV show “A Promise of What is to Come.”

Twenty Six Answers to Twenty Six Reasons

The complete audios from Pastor Lancaster’s 2010 class “Twenty Six Answers to Twenty Six Reasons” are now online at bethimmanuel.org. These teachings address common anti-missionary objections to Yeshua-faith and force us to conduct a healthy re-examination of our own beliefs.

Romans: A Messianic Jewish Reading

We have begun to post the audio and study-notes for D. Thomas Lancaster’s twenty-week class on Paul’s Epistle to the Romans. The class, titled Romans: A Messianic Jewish Reading, goes deep fast and takes you, verse by verse, through the entire epistle. The first session is already online, and more will follow through the rest of the summer.

Book of Revelation

Our series on the book of Revelation, Apocalypse of John, will resume in September when the Wednesday night, Beth Immanuel Plugged In Services resume, Wednesday September 7.

Virtual Kollel and Liturgy

You can enjoy teachings from teachers at Beth Immanuel and even participate in some of the sessions live online. Check out our online study sessions at the Beth Immanuel Virtual Kollel. You can also begin to learn prayers from the Beth Immanuel synagogue liturgy as we post them online.

Restoration Project

Help restore Beth Immanuel’s aging nineteenth-century church building. Our historic property is in a state of disrepair and in need of funding for basic maintenance, upkeep, and improvement. Keep the roof over your head by contributing specifically toward the physical property needs at Beth Immanuel.

Fast of Tammuz

The summer month of Tammuz is associated with the fast day that bears it’s name, the “Fast of Tammuz.” The fast commemorates the breaching of Jerusalem’s walls and the cessation of the Temple sacrifices. This year Tammuz 17 falls on Shabbat, July 23. In honor of the Sabbath, we postpone the fast day twenty four hours. In Hudson, the Fast of Tammuz begins Sunday July 24 at 3:46 AM and concludes at 9:21 PM. Join us for an 8:00 AM Minyan on Sunday, July 24 including a special Torah reading and teaching about the three weeks.

The Three Weeks

The Fast of Tammuz begins three weeks of mourning over the destruction of Jerusalem, the destruction of the Temple, and praying for the coming of the Messiah. During the three weeks, certain mourning customs apply. The last nine days, from the beginning of the month Av until the fast of Av (the anniversary of the destruction of the Temple) are a time of heightened mourning. This year, the three weeks span July 24-August 14.

Paul and Paul

On the evening of August 4, we will host an evening to honor the Yahrzeit of Paul of Tarsus and Paul Philip Levertoff. The evening will include stories about the Paul the Apostle, stories about Levertoff, and teachings from both. Thursday, August 4, 7:00 PM.

Fast of Av

The Fast of Av 9 commemorates the destruction of the Temple. It is the most serious fast on the Jewish calendar aside from the fast of Yom Kippur. This year Av 9 falls on Shabbat, August 13. In honor of the Sabbath, we postpone the fast day twenty four hours. In Hudson, the Fast of Av begins Saturday August 13 at 8:20 PM and concludes Sunday, August 14 at 9:08 PM. Beth Immanuel will host special Tisha beAv services, with a reading of the book of Lamentations Saturday night and special Shacharit and Minchah services on Sundays. Service times to be announced.

5777

Get ready for the big New Year’s 5777 party at Beth Immanuel with three days of celebration, two days of horn blowing, and one long day of Rosh HaShanah. This year the annual Rosh HaShanah Ingathering begins with a services and a festival meal Sunday night October 2. Monday and Tuesday October 3-4 will include synagogue services, new songs, 100 blasts on the shofar, tashlich at the Saint Croix River, and plenty of apples and honey for a sweet new year.
