What does it mean to be "under the law"? Conventional teaching understands Paul's use of the terminology, "under the law," to mean legalism. This teaching from Romans 6 takes a completely different perspective.

Number 3 in the series The Weighty Matters of the Torah

Why does Yeshua identify faithfulness as one of the weighty matters of the Torah, and what does that really mean? Aaron Eby takes a look at the meaning of justice, mercy, and faithfulness by comparing a similar discussion in the Talmud where the sages boil the 613 commandments down to the principle of living by faith. This teaching from the 2022 Shavuot conference takes you through an easy-to-understand path toward understanding what it means to live by faith.

Number 21 in the series Apocalypse of John

Are you ready for the coming tribulation? It's already here, and it has been underway for the last two thousand years. The four horsemen of the apocalypse have already ridden out; five of the seven seals on the scroll with seven seals have already been opened, and we are just about to see the opening of the sixth seal. Take a quick look at the first seven chapters of Revelation with this  season one recap of the Apocalypse of John.

And he said to me, "These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation. They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb."  (Revelation 7:1)

Number 4 in the series It's Too Jewish!

The Bible says, "Where there is no vision, the people cast off restraint." But what is the vision? Here's a talk on the vision behind Messianic Judaism for All Nations and how it differs from other forms of Judaism and Christianity. This teaching presents "the big picture" in the context of a discussion on Jacob's blessings over his sons at the end of the book of Genesis.

Number 4 in the series The Weighty Matters of the Torah

Yeshua identifies the weighty matters of the Torah as justice, mercy, and faithfulness. From where does he derive this triad? This teaching focuses in on Micah 6:8, offering context for the saying from the days of Isaiah and Hezekiah. Then we examine what it means "to walk humbly with your God" in light of Yeshua's teachings about the weighty matters of the Torah.

Number 29 in the series Apocalypse of John

The vision of Revelation 12 involving a woman pursued by a seven-headed red dragon has inspired many different interpretations, but how would a first-century Jewish reader have understood the vision? Where is the place in the wilderness prepared for the woman? What is the flood that pours forth from the dragon's mouth? This teaching places Revelation 12 back in its context, explaining the symbolism.

Then the dragon became furious with the woman and went off to make war on the rest of her offspring, on those who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus. And he stood on the sand of the sea. (Revelation 12:17)

Was Jesus a false prophet? Reason number six of the anti-missionary book Twenty-Six Reasons Why Jews Don't Believe in Jesus alleges that Jesus was a false prophet because not all of his predictions came to pass. This class considers the sign of Jonah passage about the Son of Man spending three days and three nights in the earth, the troubling curse of Jeconiah, predictions that "this generation will not pass away untill all is accomplished" and "some of those standing here will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming.

Number 7 in the series 26 Answers to 26 Reasons

Reason number eight of the book Twenty Six Reasons Jews Don't Believe in Jesus raises solid objections to our claims that Yeshua is the Messiah. Especially troubling is the criteria that the Messiah must be a Son of David. If Yeshua is conceived of the Holy Spirit, how can he be considered a Son of David? And how do we reconcile the conflicting genealogies of Matthew 1 and Luke 3?

Was Jesus crucified for being an anti-Roman zealot who was agitating against Rome? Does the Torah provide an avenue of personal salvation, thereby rendering the atonement of Jesus unnecessary? This anti-climactic lesson concludes our study of Asher Norman's book, Twenty-Six Reasons Jews Don't Believe in Jesus by briefly considering the closing arguments of reasons number twenty-five and twenty-six, including another tedious tour of duty through the wild-eyed claims of junk scholars.

Was Jesus fallible? Reason number seven of the anti-missionary book Twenty-Six Reasons Why Jews Don't Believe in Jesus alleges that Jesus "was not a perfect being who never sinned, and his teachings and behavior were morally problematic." This class examines seeming mistakes of the Master and sayings and actions which might be misconstrued as beneath the dignity of a tzadik (righteous person). Why did Yeshua call Gentiles "dogs," curse a fig tree, speak so harshly to the sages, and wrongly identify Zechariah son of Berechiah as Zechariah son of Iddo? These and many more questions are explored.

Was Paul an apostate to Judaism and a traitor to the Jewish people? Reason Sixteen in the book Twenty-Six Reasons Jews Don't Believe in Jesus states that "Paul was the Source of Christian Opposition to the Jewish Law," but the allegations against Paul go much further, accusing him of being a Gentile, of being a closet Sadduccee and of collusion with Rome. This teaching challenges the pseudo-scholarship of popular anti-Paul writers.

Number 3 in the series Romans

What advantage is there to being Jewish? Paul lists lots of advantages, but exemption from judgment is not one of them.

This important study on the first three chapters of Romans makes sense of Paul's discussion about the Law, the Jewish people, the Nations, and how we all stand under God's judgment and in need of atonement and salvation. The discussion reverses several common assumptions about Romans 1-3 by clearly explaining the sequence of Paul's argument, the rhetorical devices he employs, and the specialized terminology he uses such as "under the law" and "the circumcision."

Number 11 in the series Romans

If Gentile believers receive the a share in the kingdom and the world to come and also enjoy the blessings promised to Abraham, what advantage does a Jewish believer have? What's the point of being a Jew at all? Does the inclusion of the Gentiles negate Jewish identity and priority? These are the questions that the Apostle Paul takes up in the much-misunderstood and often-misinterpreted ninth chapter of the book of Romans.

What advantage has the Jew? What is the value of circumcsion? Much in every way. They are Israelites, and to them belong the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the Torah, the worship, and the promises. (Romans 3:1; 9:4)

The New Testament talks about being "saved," and in fact, our Master's name is connected to the concept of salvation. But "salvation" in its Jewish and biblical context is somewhat different from its use in Protestant Christianity.
