Number 2 in the series Death of the Messiah

Was Jesus’ Last Supper a Passover Seder? On what day did Yeshua die, and did he celebrate a Passover Seder with his disciples or not?

Yeshua died on a Friday, but what day of the month was it? And by “day of the month,” I mean, on what day of the biblical calendar did He die? Was it the thirteenth day of Nissan, the fourteenth day of Nissan, or the fifteenth day of Nissan?

Maybe this seems like a trivial question, but every year around Passover, I receive questions about the timing of the passion week. People want to understand how the story of the death and resurrection of Yeshua fits together with the biblical calendar and the festival of Passover.

Why do we "lay hands" on the sick? What does the ceremony of laying on of hands actually mean?

Colossians 2 is often cited to prove that the Torah’s commands—especially dietary laws and calendar observances—are not incumbent upon a follower of Yeshua, whether Jew or Gentile. But abolishing the Torah would have a devastating effect on the Jewish people. Learn the true context of this apostolic teaching and find out how the Sabbath, Rosh Chodesh, and holidays foreshadow the coming Messianic Kingdom.

Why is it forbidden to make ordinary use of the light that shines from a Chanukah menorah lit for the festival of Chanukah? We are permitted only to look at the light and enjoy it, but not to use it for any mundane purpose, such as illumination for reading. Listen to a Chanukah teaching regarding the light of the chanukah menorah and its connection with the menorah of the Temple, presented to Beth Immanuel on December 8, 2012 in celebration of the congregation's tenth anniversary.

Number 36 in the series Holy Epistle to the Hebrews

Anyone can pray, and God knows the thoughts of every creature. The difference between this world and the world of the divine is artificial, and God pervades all things, and all things are in him, so why would anyone need a mediator?
In the New Covenant, Yeshua acts as priest, sacrifice, and mediator.
Installment 36 in the Beth Immanuel Hebrews series finishes Hebrews chapter 9 with a discussion on Hebrews 9:15-28 and the Messiah's role as a mediator between Israel and God.

Romans 14 leads some people to believe that the Sabbath and kosher laws may be willed away, since "each one should be fully convinced in his own mind." But can the reality of Torah be shaped and molded by our thoughts? Find out what Paul's statement "nothing is unclean" teaches us about differences of opinion within the Jewish community and the fellowship of Messiah's followers.

Number 10 in the series Romans

Does God predestine some people for salvation and others for torment? Where does that leave free choice? In this teaching on Romans 8, we look beyond the weary argument about predestination and free will to try to understand the words of the Apostle Paul from within the context of the argument he is making. Take a closer look at the meaning of resurrection and the hope in which we were saved.

Nobody likes to be disciplined, and nobody enjoys discipline, but the believer can have confidence that all of life's difficulties and hardships are meant for good from the hand of a loving father. Number 5 in the series Apocalypse of John

Who, or what, are the seven spirits of God? Who are the seven angels of the seven churches? The book of Revelation revolves around sevens: seven lamps, seven stars, seven spirits, seven churches, seven angels ... This teaching takes a plunge into first-century apostolic angelology to unravel the mystery of the seven spirits before the throne.

As for the mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand, and the seven golden lampstands, the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches. (Revelation 1:20)

Rabbi Jonathan Cahn's book the Mystery of the Shemitah has gripped the nation. Rabbi Cahn claims that God deals with the United States by imposing a pattern of judgment which recurs on a seven-year cycle corresponding to the Shemitah year. Is there a basis in Torah or biblical prophecy for the claims? This teaching also considers the blood moons, a sandstorm in the Middle East, and the recent tragedy in Mecca which took place on the anniversary of the World Trade Center disaster. Is God trying to tell us something?

Number 2 in the series 26 Answers to 26 Reasons

Judaism teaches that a person should keep the commandments to inherit the world to come, but Christianity teaches that a person only needs to believe in Jesus. How do we reconcile these two very different salvation programs?

Number 1 in the series 26 Answers to 26 Reasons

Do you understand why most Jewish people do not believe that Jesus is the Messiah? Do you know why you do?

26 Answers to 26 Questions is a live recording of a mid-week class based on Asher Norman's popular anti-missionary book Twenty-Six Reasons Why Jews Don't Believe in Jesus.

In the course of these classes, we used Twenty-Six Reasons as a textbook to study our way through common questions raised by anti-missionary objections to Christianity and the New Testament. Our objective was not to train people to better proselytize Jews, but rather, we wanted to better understand our own convictions about Yeshua of Nazareth.

Since concluding the class, now more than five years ago, we have had frequent requests for copies of the audios. Over the next few months, we will be editing and posting the original audios from the class here at bethimmanuel.org.
