Numbers 25

After the Plague

Time to take stock and determine who is still with us "after the plague."

Ask not, "What benefits do I get as a Beth Immanuel member." Ask, "What benefits does Beth Immanuel get from my membership?"

Then it came about after the plague, that the LORD spoke to Moses and to Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, saying, “Take a census of all the congregation ..." (Numbers 26:1-2)

The Zealot

People with deep convictions can be characterized as "zealots," and zeal is a good thing ... sometimes. Here's another warning to disciples regarding the toxic social discourse and cultural divide tearing apart the United States of America with reference to the Fast of Tammuz and the three weeks.

By Water and Fire

If you just want to fit in with everyone and go with the flow, discipleship probably is not going to work for you. Disciples of Yeshua are consistently part of the minority and outside the concensus of social norms. Why is that? Here's a quick teaching on the concept of "the Fear of the LORD" and how God punishes the wicked by water and fire.

Parashat Pinchas (1)

Let's study the Parashah in Hebrew! This week's parashah is Pinchas, found in Numbers 25:10-30:1.

Follow along in Hebrew on Sefaria.

Deeds of the Nicolaitans

Who were the mysterious Nicolaitans mentioned in the second chapter of Revelation? Why did Yeshua specifically condemn that particular sect? What did they teach and how did they begin? How do we know if we are Nicolaitans or not?  In this teaching from the Apoclypse of John, we follow the clues to unlock the mystery behind this obscure abberation on early Christianity:

Yet this you do have, that you hate the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. (Revelation 2:6)
